Cyclones End Season With Loss To St. Mary's In Subdistricts

The Cyclones not only hug with the state's top-ranked girls basketball team, but led  for much of the first half during the Class D1-7 subdistrict at West Holt.

No. 4 Clearwater-Orchard (13-10) lost to No. 1 St. Mary's (21-1) 63-48 on Tuesday night, ending their season after playing one of the closest games of the season against the Cardinals.

St. Mary's held a 29-24 advantage at the end of the first half and used a hot third-quarter to extend the lead, outscoring Clearwater-Orchard 18-9 in the third to pull away.

Emily Filsinger led the Cyclones with 17 points, and Mallory Cooper added another 11. Brooke Bauer led all scorers with 27 points.
