Clearwater-Orchard struggled early against Niobrara-Verdigre and dropped the first set 25-22, but came back swinging in the final two sets to win, 25-17 and 25-23. "It would be best not to say anything about the first set," Coach Shelly Mlnarik said. "The second set, the girls really started to gel together and hit hard. We played pretty scrappy and picked up a lot of stuff they threw at us the last two sets." Junior hitter Mallory Cooper led the Lady Cyclones with 12 kills and 20 digs and senior Briana Stelling with 7 kills and 19 digs, while Katie Funk recorded 17 set assists. It was a close game throughout, but the Lady Shamrocks prevailed, 25-20 and 25-21. "The girls played a hard fought game," Mlnarik said. "They battled both sets and fought to the finish!"
