Clearwater Man On Probation For Threats Arrested At Prom

A Clearwater man already on probation for terroristic threats was arrested on Saturday night at Clearwater-Orchard’s prom for disturbing the peace and second degree trespassing.

According to Antelope County Sheriff Bob Moore, multiple 911 calls were received around 6:16 p.m. in regard to a male allegedly causing a verbal disturbance at the high school prom.

Clarence W. Schonemann, 45 of Clearwater, was removed from the Clearwater gymnasium and arrested by Antelope County deputies. He is being held at the Antelope County Law Enforcement Center.
Moore said the investigation is ongoing.

On Sept. 30, Schonemann was sentenced to probation for 18 months on the charge of terroristic threats, a class IV felony. He previously pleaded no contest.

The charge stems from an incident in which the Schonemann was arguing with his mother-in-law and returned "brandishing a firearm," according to Antelope County Attorney Joe Abler.

His mother-in-law took the stand and said she forgave him and was praying for reconciliation.

At the sentencing, Schonemann’s attorney, Pat Carney, said his client never pointed the weapon at anyone or threatened anyone's life.

"He just asked her to leave them alone and get out of their lives," Carney said.

Judge Johnson said he understood Schonemann's frustration; however, he chose to deal with it unlawfully.

​"You brought out a gun for a specific purpose...to threaten your mother-in-law," he said.
