All-Around Effort Leads Cyclones To Second-Straight Win

After picking up their first win of the season last week, Clearwater-Orchard continued to build momentum, topping Ainsworth 64-22.

Both teams traded scores in the first quarter, going into the second quarter with a 16-16 tie.

Two Blake Hoke touchdowns in the second quickly changed that. He snuck in for a short rushing touchdown and then connected with Travis Kerkman for a 17-yard touchdown pass to send the Cyclones into halftime with a 32-16 lead.

The defense continued to hold in the second half, allowing just one touchdown while the offense added four scores to give the Cyclones the win.

Hoke was nearly flawless on the night through the air, going 13 for 14 with 123 yards and a touchdown. His lone incompletion was an interception. Kirby Willats also went 1 for 1 with a nine yard touchdown strike.

On the ground, Creston Bertschinger led the attack, scoring one touchdown and racking up 126 yards rushing. Jacob Long added 91 yards and a touchdown. Hoke earned two touchdowns on the ground, while Chris Kester had one touchdown as well.

Kerkman proved to be the primary Cyclone receiving target, hauling in six receptions for 52 yards and a touchdown. Codey Snider also added a touchdown for Clearwater-Orchard.

Defensively, Long led the way with 20 total tackles. Kerkman added 15 tackles while Bertschinger had 10 tackles.

As a team, the Cyclones recorded eight sacks, lead by Kerkman's 2.5 sacks and Zach King's two sacks. Hoke added two interceptions as well for the Clearwater-Orchard defense.

Clearwater-Orchard returns home next week as they host Boyd County.
