Affiliated Foods Semi Overturns Near Clearwater On Monday

An Affiliated Foods semi overturned early Monday morning east of Clearwater on Highway 275, knocking down a power line in the process.

The driver, Anthony Wauh of Madison, was westbound on Hwy. 275 at time of the accident. The semi tractor trailer was hauling mostly canned goods. 

According to Antelope County Deputy Darin Ternus, the driver reported that a car crossed the center line, causing him to swerve and lose control of the semi truck. The deputy said the semi rolled onto its side and slid into a cornfield, striking a power line. He said Wauh sustained minor cuts and bruises and refused medical treatment.

Deputy Ternus said dispatch contacted him shortly after 2:30 a.m. to report the accident. The Antelope County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene and the Nebraska State Patrol assisted with traffic control. 


A salvage crew from Affiliated Foods hauled away goods by off-loading them on another truck. After that was complete, three tow trucks from D & L Towing of Norfolk worked to pull the semi tractor trailer upright and it was towed away from the scene. Highway traffic in the area was reduced to one lane for nearly 8 hours while the scene was being cleared.
