20-Year Veteran Tom Thiele Appointed To Advisory Board

A past board president was appointed to the Clearwater Advisory Board on Monday night.

Tom Thiele - who served on the Clearwater Board of Education for 20 years, including as president - was appointed at the special meeting to fill the position vacated by Josh Mlnarik.  

Thiele served on the Clearwater board until 2010 and said he’s excited for the opportunity to serve once again.

“I enjoyed being on the board before," Thiele said. "The school is a very important part of the community, and I wanted to help out again."

Others who submitted letters of interest for the position were Brian King and Jarrod Long. 

Principal Mike Sanne said the advisory board followed state statute with members asking each candidate the same question and then ranking the candidates through a point system. The candidate with the highest point total was then nominated. Sanne said the point totals were not made public. 

Amy Thiele made the motion, seconded by Joe Thiele, to nominate Tom Thiele for appointment to serve on the advisory board. Tom Thiele will serve on the board until December 2016.
