Supervisors Talk Invenergy Conditions, Livestock Friendly Date

Wind towers remained on the agenda Tuesday as the Antelope County Supervisors met for the second time in two weeks.

County Attorney Joe Abler recommended word to clear a misunderstanding with one of the conditions on the Invenergy LLC application.

A lawyer representing Invenergy LLC asked the board to clarify whether the recommended setbacks regarding icing conditions were GE's recommendations or the county's. 

Either way, Invenergy said the company would follow all of the conditions.

The supervisors approved the change, voting 6-0.

Last January, supervisors voted to designate Nebraska a "Livestock Friendly" county. Nearly six months later, the county is yet to be officially recognized by the governor. 

Rather than setting the date for the recognition, the supervisors turned the decision over to the Antelope County Ag Society, who wanted to make sure that the governor's office was aware of date and time.

Vice Chairman Neil Williby made the motion to give the Agriculture Society the decision of when the Livestock Friendly date will be.

"What every works for you and the fair and the Governor," Williby said. "You just let us know." 

​Roads Boss Casey Dittrich reported on what he called a successful change to four 10-hour days. He also recommended purchasing a new semi tractor. 

The board suggested that Dittrich rent in the meantime while he looks for a truck to properly fit the county.

The next meeting will be on June 28.
