Registering to vote is easier than ever now with the aid of technology. In just a few clicks, anyone can register to vote for the upcoming election in November.
In 2015, the Secretary of State Office created online registration. Antelope County Clerk Lisa Payne says that the online registration is simple. “it is a very easy process," Payne explained. "As long as you know your name, date of birth, physical address, that's about what you need.” Voters don’t even need to leave the comfort of their own home to vote with the online registration and mail in ballots. Starting October 11th, voters can go to the court house and vote in person before the November election. “You know the weather is good today and you don’t know what it is going to be like on November 8th," Payne said. "You can come in and vote early and we have a box set up. It is our absentee voting, it’s the same throughout.” With the election rapidly approaching, it is only going to get busier. “I can see it really picking up in the next couple of weeks.” Online registration ends October 21st , in person registration ends the 28th, and absentee voting is open until November 7th. Those dead lines are to make sure that county officials have enough time to verify all the information that is received. For more information, visit Nebraska.gov. |
