Nebraska Department Of Agriculture Lifts Poultry Ban

The Nebraska Department of Ag has lifted the poultry ban as of Jan. 1st. Antelope County 4-Hers will be free to show poultry in 2016.

Poultry events across the state were canceled last summer due to to the Avian Flu outbreak. The ban included all events where birds are co-mingled including: local and county fairs and festivals, the Nebraska State Fair, Ak-Sar-Ben,swap meets, exotic sales and live bird auctions in an effort to prevent the spread of highly pathogenic H5N2 avian influenza (HPAI).

The Antelope County Fair worked to incorporate poultry into the fair in another way including record books and showmanship with a fake chicken.
