Jolene Mosel Named 2016 Antelope County Fair Supporter

Jolene Mosel's impact on the Antelope County Fair continues to live on.

Mosel, who died earlier this year after a lengthy battle with cancer, was named the 2016 Outstanding Fair Supporter at the annual meeting of the Antelope County Fair board Monday night. Her daughter, Chandra, accepted the award on her behalf from Ed Pellatz, ag society member.

Mosel's impact was recognized during the fair as well with a new award named in her honor. The inaugural Jolene Mosel Helping Hand Award was given to Anne Meis of Elgin.

There were plenty of reasons to celebrate at Monday's meeting, including the increase in 4-H participation. Tessa Hain said more than 300 youth participated in 4-H this year, including 89 newcomers.

Hain said it was the first year Antelope County had more than 300 4-H members in more than 30 years. 

Char Carpenter was voted onto the board of directors, filling a seat previously held by Fred Anderson who did not seek another term. Heath Snodgrass and Jeff Carr were re-elected to the board.
