Flash Flood Watch Issued For Antelope County

A flash flood watch has been issued by the National Weather Service in Omaha.

The watch is now in effect through Thursday afternoon for portions of Northeast Nebraska. This includes the following areas, Antelope, Cedar, Knox, Pierce and Wayne.

Several rounds of showers and thunderstorms are forecast through tonight and are expected to produce locally heavy rainfall before diminishing Thursday. Additional rainfall amounts could range from 2-3 inches or higher. Rainfal over the previous 24 hours had ranged 3-5 inches in some areas.

Additional storms will be capable of producing rainfall rates of 1-2 inches an hour and may lead to flash flooding.

A flash flood watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. This is a dangerous situation, you should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warning be issued.
