While the boys rested, the Elgin Public/Pope John girls kept themselves busy, racking up two more wins on Friday and Saturday over a pair of O'Neill teams.
On Friday, the Wolfpack turned up the throttle after the first quarter in a 62-26 win over St. Mary's. After one quarter, the two teams battled close, with EPPJ leading just 20-16. However, over the next three quarters, the Wolfpack outscored the Cardinals 42-10 en route to the win.
Three Wolfpack ballers ended the game in double figures, led by 13 points from Allyson Wemhoff. Calli Krebs added 11 points and Lydia Behnk added 10. Paige Meis pulled down a team-high seven rebounds.
The next night, O'Neill came to town for an exciting match up. The Eagles led 8-7 after one quarter of play, with the Wolfpack taking a 26-21 into the half. The Eagles won the third quarter 11-9, before a 15-7 fourth quarter in favor of the Wolfpack locked up the 50-39 win for EPPJ.
Krebs was on fire against the Eagles, knocking down a team-high 15 points. Meis added 11 while Kaylee Martinsen and Wemhoff added eight and seven points, respectively. Martinsen also pulled in a team-high nine boards.
