It was all Antelope County on the court on Friday as Elkhorn Valley and Neligh-Oakdale met in Neligh for an early-season battle.
In the girls game, Elkhorn Valley used a huge 25-3 first quarter to take control before holding on for a 65-24 win.
The Falcons were led by a double-double showing from Hannah Ollendick. The junior finished the night with 24 points and 10 rebounds. She also dished out six assists.
Along with Ollendick, Amber Miller and SIerra Rystrom added 14 and 11 points, respectively. Olivia Nall added seven more points while pulling down 10 boards of her own. Brianna Werner dished out seven assists.
For Neligh-Oakdale, Bailey Frey led the attack with nine points. Trinity Kurpgeweit added eight points while pulling in four rebounds. Paige Furstenau added four points and four assists.
In the boys game, the roles were reversed as Neligh-Oakdale used a dominant second half to come away with a 48-29 win. Both teams were deadlocked at nine at the end of the first quarter, but the Warriors continued to improve their output as the game went on en route to the win.
Austin Rice led the Warriors with his first double-double of the year, scoring 17 points and pulling in 14 rebounds. Nate Buck nearly duplicated that effort, pulling down 11 boards to go with his nine points. Julien Hearn added seven points and Hunter Charf and Cole Belitz each accounted for six.
Stats will be added for the Elkhorn Valley boys as they become available.
