Neligh-Oakdale's Austin Rice knew he was having a special day after his first nine holes went off without a hitch. However, he may not have known just how great of a day he had.
The sophomore Warrior had one of his best rounds all season, despite the windy weather to just barely miss a spot at the state golf meet. Rice led the Warriors at the C-3 District Golf Tournament in Hartington, finishing with a 92, good for a tie for 14th. The top 10 golfers, including ties, qualified for the state tournament.
Rice finished with a 47 through nine holes before adding a 45 on the back half. He was followed closely by senior Chris Bentley, who finished the day with a 101. Ashton Krebs shot a 112 on the day and Marty Beyer rounded out the Warrior linksters with a 141.
