Elkhorn Valley's basketball squads were busy over the weekend as they took on Stuart and Plainview on back-to-back days this weekend.
Against Stuart, Elkhorn Valley's girls were led by a dominant offensive showing from Hannah Ollendick en route to a 55-30 victory.
Ollendick scored 26 of the 55 Falcon points, hitting 12-of-17 field goals, including 2-of-3 from beyond the arc. She also pulled down eight rebounds on the night.
Amber Miller and Brianna Werner both recorded seven points for the Falcons. Olivia Nall pulled in 11 rebounds and dished out four assists.
The boys nearly pulled off the sweep for Elkhorn Valley, but were unable to overcome a 20-13 third quarter surge by Stuart in a 61-52 loss.
Braedyn Ollendick led the Falcons with 14 points. He was joined in double figures by Kalen Dittrich's 12 points and Brayden Effle's 10 points. Effle added a team-high eight rebounds for the Falcons.
The next day, the Falcons took on Plainview with similar results.
The Lady Falcons trailed at halftime 21-15 but used a dominant second half to earn a 56-43 win.
Sierra Rystrom found her way to the free throw line often, posting a team-high 17 points thanks to her 8-of-12 shooting on free throws. Ollendick added 16 points and Miller and Nall each posted eight.
The Falcons dominated the glass, out-rebounding the Pirates 43-25, led by 15 boards from Rystrom and 10 from Nall.
The boys entered the final frame looking to bring home the victory, as they led the Pirates 35-32, but Plainview posted a 24-10 fourth quarter to defeat the Falcons 56-45.
Dittrich put up a team-high 12 points. Effle added nine points and 11 rebounds. Ollendick, Brandon Evans and Julio Sierra each added eight points. Bryson Anderson dished out five assists.
