Thanks to a dominant performance on Thursday, Clearwater-Orchard will have a chance to win their own Holiday Tournament on Friday.
The Cyclones dominated Chambers/Wheeler Central in the first round of the Cyclone Holiday Tournament to advance to the championship game. O-C led 37-25 heading into the break and continued to pour it on in the third quarter, outscoring the Renegades 21-10, en route to a 61-39 win.
As a team, the Cyclones shot 43 percent from the floor, led by 17 points each from Ryan Wilhelm and Blake Hoke. Liam Odell added 13 and Jacob Long and Chris Kester had seven, each. The Cyclones also cleaned up on the boards, pulling in 30 as a team, led by Long's eight. Odell and Wilhelm each added seven.
Clearwater-Orchard will take on Elkhorn Valley in the boys championship on Friday at 7:30 p.m.
Earlier in the night, the Lady Cyclones hit the court against the Renegades as well, unfortunately coming out on the wrong end of the scoreboard. They struggled to find the bottom of the net, shooting just 16 percent in a 55-21 loss.
Only two Cyclones were able to hit multiple field goals, Brooklynn Chipps and Allison Kerkman. Chipps finished with a team-high seven points and Kerkman added five more, including one of the two Cyclones 3s. Brooke Knievel had the other. Katie Stearns led the way on the glass, pulling in six rebounds.
Clearwater-Orchard's girls will take on Elkhorn Valley in the consolation round at 3 p.m. on Friday.
