An incident near Orchard that led to a K-9 search west of town remains under investigation.
According to the Antelope County Sheriff's Department, officials are not releasing the names of those involved or any other details until they further investigate the situation. An official again confirmed that there is no immediate danger to area residents as they continue to investigate.
Using spotlights and a K-9 unit, multiple law enforcement agencies spent several hours searching fields and tree lines overnight Saturday just west of Orchard. A K-9 unit could be heard and spotlights were visible as officers spent hours searching a field following an altercation at a residence near that location.
The Antelope County Sheriff's Department, Nebraska State Patrol and Neligh Police Department blocked off several roads starting around 10 p.m. Saturday night before zeroing in on an area one mile west of Orchard along Highway 20. By around 1 a.m. Sunday, only a couple of law enforcement vehicles were visible in the area.
Law enforcement on scene Saturday evening said although they could not offer any specific details to the search, they said there was no safety concern to area residents.
