Funeral services for Floyd L. Kinnison, age 87 of Orchard, Nebraska, will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in rural Orchard. Reverend Marcel Kohlmeyer will officiate, with burial in Riverside Cemetery in Verdigre, Nebraska.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Brockhaus Funeral Home in Verdigre.
Floyd died Saturday, December 16, 2017, at his home.
Floyd Lavern Kinnison, son of Theodore and Hilda (Cihlar) Kinnison, was born April 14, 1930, in rural O’Neill, Nebraska. He spent his youth on a farm west of Verdigre. Floyd attended Walnut School through the eighth grade and graduated from Verdigre Public School in 1947. On July 12, 1951, he was united in marriage to Lorene Block at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Venus. To this union, four children were born, Michael, Vickie, Paul, and Elizabeth.
He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran church.
Floyd spent his entire life farming west of Verdigre. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod, where he held various officer positions over the years. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Floyd passed away on Saturday, December 16, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Lorene Kinnison; son, Michael (Sandy) Kinnison of Rincon, Georgia; daughters, Vickie (Jerry) Thomas of Orchard, Nebraska and Elizabeth (Timothy) Maly of O’Neill, Nebraska; daughter-in-law, Jean Kinnison of Elkhorn, Nebraska; ten grandchildren, Kristine (Tom) Behmer of Pierce, Nebraska, David (Stef) Kinnison of Atlanta, Georgia, Tommy (Heather) Howes of Rincon, Georgia, Bryan (Sarah) Alder of Verdigre, Nebraska, Steven (Candice) Alder of Norfolk, Nebraska, Brandon (Devon) Maly of Norfolk, Nebraska, Jennifer Mansingh of Elkhorn, Nebraska, Andrea (Dan) Nash of Omaha, Nebraska, Jon Kinnison of Omaha, Nebraska and Adam Maly of O’Neill, Nebraska; sisters-in-law, Jackie Block of Creighton, Nebraska, Elaine Mott and Berta Kinnison of Verdigre, Nebraska; and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Theodore and Hilda Kinnison; brother, Donald Kinnison; son, Paul Kinnison; and great-granddaughter, Rachel Alder.
