Funeral services for Donald A. Kossmann, age 94, of Meadow Grove, Nebraska will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 23, 2017, at St. Paul Lutheran Church (Buffalo Creek) in Tilden, Nebraska. Pastor Ryan Eden will officiate, with burial in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Brockhaus-Harlan Funeral Home in Tilden.
Donald died Saturday, December 16, 2017, at Community Pride Care Center in Battle Creek, Nebraska.
Donald Kossmann, son of Henry and Mary (Lind) Kossmann, was born January 19, 1923, at his parents’ home in rural Tilden, Nebraska. He attended Bunker Hill School and District 114 Pleasant Valley School through the eighth grade. On June 20, 1943, Donald was united in marriage to Darlene Mahin of rural Meadow Grove, Nebraska. They were blessed with two sons, Dannie and Randy.
Donald was engaged in farming, raising sheep, and did custom sheep shearing. His hobbies included square dancing, playing cards, reminiscing of old times, and he had a passion for horses. Donald was a member of St Paul Lutheran Church (Buffalo Creek).
Donald is survived by his sons, Dannie Kossmann (Joni Weed) of Kearney, Nebraska, and Randy (Resty) Kossmann of Battle Creek, Nebraska; grandchildren, Brix, Paige, Seth, and Chase Kossmann; sisters, Loureine Whitwer and Lois Bacon both of Omaha, Nebraska; and special friend, Lillian Shabram of Tilden, Nebraska.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Mahin Kossmann in 2009; parents, Henry and Mary Lind Kossmann; siblings, Henry Kossmann, Jr. and Dorothy Wolske; and brothers-in-law, Harold Wolske, Roland Whitwer, and Keith Bacon.
