Becoming a published author is something some people think about, and often accomplish later on in life.
Fifteen-year-old Adam Boggs from Red Cloud, Neb., however, didn’t wait until later in life to become an author.
Boggs recently published his first comic book, “David’s Mighty Men: A Comic Book Based on 2 Samuel 23:8-39,” through Amazon.
He started sketching characters and captions for the book two years ago, eventually using digital imaging on his computer.
“I read the story one day and I thought, ‘That’s strange that they haven’t made a movie or a book about this yet,’ ” said Boggs.
The story goes into the details of King David’s mighty warriors and the amazing feats they accomplished, such as killing lions or single-handedly slaying 300 men.
The comic, based on the passages of 2 Samuel 23:8-39, is only the first of more comic books to come.
“I’m actually over halfway done with my next book,” Adam said. “This next book is not exactly a bible story. It’s more of an allegory - kind of like Narnia and those kinds of stories. It’s about the full armor of God in Ephesians.”
“David’s Mighty Men” available for purchase through Amazon.com for $16.99.
Boggs is the son of Chad and Becky Boggs, and the grandson of Shirley Meyer of Brunswick and Lyle Meyer of Norfolk; and Tom and Lorna Boggs of Neligh. Adam is the great grandson of June Andersen of Neligh and Dottie Babcock of Creighton.
A book signing is planned in Neligh in February.
