Nine Neligh-Oakdale faculty and staff were recognized Thursday morning for their years of service to the district.
At the annual end-of-the-year breakfast, Superintendent Kimberly Lingenfelter recognized retirees Lori Barlow and Cindy Hild. Barlow taught special education while Hild taught Family and Consumer Science and was the FCCLA sponsor.
Lingenfelter said the two taught for a combined 72 years. In fact, Hild started her career as Barlow's teacher at Chambers Public School.
Also leaving the district are teachers Janelle Nielsen, guidance; Brittany Petersen, elementary; Ashley Schafer, elementary and Nicole Schmitz, language arts; staff Peggy Connot, food services; Dawn Wiegand, technology; and Cindy Lewis, para-professional. Lewis is retiring in December.
Lingenfelter said the district also recognized several teachers for their long-term service to the district.
This year's honorees were first-grade teacher Shanna Lammers for 10 years, special education teacher DeAnna Clifton for 10 years, P-2 principal Mary Schrader for 35 years and first-grade teacher Pat Foss for 40 years.
