More than 100 youth turned out for the Glow Walk at Neligh-Oakdale on Monday night to kick off Red Ribbon week.
Students were encouraged to wear red as they walked around the gym with the glow sticks. Guidance counselor Becky Kerkman organized the event to celebrate living a healthy, drug-free life. Besides walking, the students danced to several songs.
Here are a list of the week's events and dress up days:
Tuesday - "Hand in hand we take a stand to be healthy and drug free" - Students will be able to write pledges about keeping their bodies healthy. Students will made a cutout of their hands. This is the last day to donate items for the care packages.
Wednesday - "Wild About Making Healthy Choices" - Crazy hair day
Thursday - "Sock It To Drugs" - Students can wear crazy socks.
Friday - "Team Up Against Drugs" - Students are encouraged to wear school colors.
All guidance lessons throughout the week will focus on making healthy choices for our bodies.
