What began as a wish to help those less fortunate became a reality in January when the United Methodist Church received a 5 month grant through Food Bank of the Heartland, based in Omaha, to bring in a mobile food pantry. Monthly distribution paid for through this grant began in February and ended with June’s distribution. The opportunity to continue this very worthwhile cause now becomes a paying proposition for the folks in Antelope County.
If your group, business, family, church is looking for a way to help others, please consider a donation to the Mobile Food Pantry. An account for the pantry has been established at Pinnacle Bank , 324 Main, in Neligh. You may drop off donations there or send yours to either Jeanie Juracek at 801 K Street in Neligh or Carolyn Pedersen at 51976 Hwy 275, Clearwater. Donations will also be taken during the monthly distribution dates.
The average number of households served monthly is 167 which helps 446 people. The number of volunteer workers who gather every month to handle the distributions averages 60. Almost 25% of families served come from 7 counties which surround or are close to Antelope County.
