Neligh-Oakdale recently announced its 2016 homecoming candidates, attendants and crown bearers.
Royalty candidates are Alexis Jensen, Kinsley Klabenes and Lindsay Sands for queen and Damon Arehart, Tyson Belitz, and Christopher Bentley for king.
Second grade crown bearers are Madison Metschke and Cain Mortensen. Class attendants are Emma Bixler and Gage Dawson, freshmen; Haley Kerkman and Christian Carothers, sophomores; Brittany Ingalls and Marty Beyer, juniors.
Homecoming activities will kick off on Sunday, Oct. 2 with a dodgeball tournament in the high school gym. Interested participants in grades 7-12 are asked to be there by 2 p.m. and the teams will be chosen at that time.
The bonfire and high school class skits will follow the dodgeball tournament on Sunday, beginning at 6 p.m in the parking lot east of the school.
On Monday morning, Oct. 3, the Neligh-Oakdale Booster Club will serve a spirit breakfast in the high school lobby for all athletes, dance team members, student managers and coaches. Booster club members will begin serving food at 7:15 a.m. Breakfast will be egg casseroles, breakfast burritos, rolls, fruit, milk and juice. A variety of prizes will be drawn for students as well.
Dress up days will be held throughout spirit week and the spirit cup will be awarded at the parade on Friday, Oct. 7. The parade, with the theme "Disney," will begin at 1 p.m. Floats will leave the high school and travel down Main Street. Businesses are encouraged to enter a float as well. No candy may be thrown out.

Monday: Color Day (Seniors-blue; Juniors-black; Sophomores-white; Freshmen-yellow; 8th grade-red; 7th grade-green; 6th grade-orange; 5th grade-purple; 4th grade-pink; 3rd grade-neon; and P-2-rainbow)
Tuesday: Grandparents Day (dress up as an older person) - elementary may participate
Wednesday: Opposite Day
Thursday: Movie/Celebrity Day (dress up as the opposite gender)
Friday: Maroon & White Day - elementary may participate
The coronation ceremony is set for Friday night following the football game.
The Homecoming dance will be on Friday night from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m in the high school gym. Admission will be $1. Pizza and pop will be sold at the dance for a small fee.
