A Neligh-based media and marketing firm is being featured by the Nebraska Department of Education.
Pitzer Digital is one of 12 companies being filmed to help high school students across the state learn about prospective careers.
A camera crew from Three Pillars Media in Lincoln spent Thursday in Neligh interviewing owner and founder Carrie Pitzer, along with several employees about what the company does, necessary training and education, as well as how technology and social media is utilized.
"We've grown dramatically in our three short years and have attracted top talent to our company," Pitzer said. "We have marketing clients in several states and run national marketing campaigns, and our media division has become a dominant source for online news. Being selected by the state for this video feature really shows that great things are happening in Neligh and Antelope County."
The videos on the 12 career opportunities will be available online for students and others to view as they learn about possible fields. The videos serve as an online job shadowing opportunity for students.
Pitzer Digital has two divisions - marketing and media. The marketing division works to design websites and handle all marketing needs from printing and graphic design to website development and social media. The media division oversees the websites of Antelope County News, Knox County News, Holt County News and Boone County News, along with The Orchard News/Antelope County News newspaper.
"Students need to see that great career opportunities exist in rural communities. We could be located anywhere, and we choose to be headquartered in Antelope County," Pitzer said. "Graphic design, videography, communication and broadcasting education are key. Our staff is highly trained, so it's important for students to see the types of careers available and the need for education and work experience."
Most of the interviews were filmed in Pitzer Digital's new studio in Neligh while others were filmed in its central office. The crew also filmed Pitzer Digital staff working with marketing representatives from Blackburn Manufacturing.
"We don't spend much time looking back, so it's actually been eye-opening for us to compare where we started three years ago with me working out of our home to where we are today - with a dozen employees, two locations and now a studio," Pitzer said. "Obviously, our success is turning heads across the state, and that's exciting not only for us, but for the community. This is recognition for the area, not just our company. We choose to be located here and are proud to be."
