Neligh-Oakdale Public School is accepting applications for a vacancy on the Board of Education. Due to the recent resignation of Del Ames, Supt. Kimberly Lingenfelter said the school is taking applications for a new board member. She said Ames sent a letter of resignation, effective immediately, to board president Carrie Pitzer, the board and to her, stating it was due to work-related travel and not being able to be full engaged and available. Ames was elected to office in November 2012 and has served on several boards of education during his career, both public and parochial. Ames' resignation leaves just two board members - Brad Higgins and Krista Schindler - with more than a year's experience serving. Kenny Reinke was appointed to the board last April, and Ryan Koinzan and David Wright will join the board in January. According to a press release on the school website: The term of the office will be from the time of appointment until December of 2016. Candidates must be residents of Neligh-Oakdale Public School, District #02-0009, and registered voters. The position will be filled through the following process: 1) Interested residents are to submit a written statement indicating their interest in the position by noon on January 16, 2015. 2) Candidates will be questioned (interviewed) one at a time in open session. Each Board member will ask one question of each candidate at the February 9, 2015 regular Board meeting. 3) Following the interview process, motions will be in order for filling the vacancy. Applications should be sent to: Secretary of the Board Neligh-Oakdale Public Schools 600 J Street POB 149 Neligh, NE 68756 |
