It was a bittersweet night for Neligh-Oakdale as the girls and boys teams both fell to Battle Creek on Tuesday.
During one of the losses, a Warrior hit a remarkable milestone. Junior Grant White scored his 1,000th career point against the Braves.
White needed just 5 points to reach 1,000, and Battle Creek made it difficult, holding him to just 4 points - all free throws - in the first half of the game. In the third quarter, White drove the lane, drained a jump shot, and was fouled on the play to surpass the mark. He finished the game as the leading scorer for the Warriors with 15 points, followed by Tyson Belitz and Alex Kerkman each with 11, Clayton Anderson 5, and Pepper Marchant and Chris Bentley 2 each.
Neligh-Oakdale trailed by 17 points at halftime, but pulled within 8 by the end of the third quarter. However, the early deficit proved too much to overcome as the Warriors dropped the road game, 54-46.
Earlier in the night, the Lady Warriors were downed by the Battle Creek girls, 70-13.
Whitney Beacom led Neligh-Oakdale with 8 points, followed by Jayda Chance and Bailey Frey with 2 each and Alexis Jensen with 1.
Neligh-Oakdale will host Chambers/Wheeler Central on Friday night.
