Two high school art shows will be held soon.
The first one is the ESU 8 High School Art Show. The ESU is planning its art show in the new exhibition building at the Antelope County Fairgrounds in Neligh. The exhibit will be open to the public on Tuesday, April 29 from noon to 8 p.m. and Wednesday, April 30 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Students in Antelope, Boyd, Holt, Madison, Pierce, Stanton, and Wheeler counties will have artwork on display.
The next art show is the Niobrara Valley Conference art show scheduled on Friday, May 2 at St. Mary's High School in O'Neill. Over 1200 pieces of high school and junior high artwork, representing 18 area schools, will be on display Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. in O’Neill St. Mary’s School Gym, as part of this year’s NVC Art Show.
The Niobrara Valley Conference Art Show is open to the public and is free of charge. The artwork on display represents of the year-long efforts of hundreds of art students throughout this area. Categories are as diverse as the students that enter work with drawing, painting, sculpture, textiles, and more.
Schools showing artwork include: Chambers, Clearwater-Orchard, Elgin, Elkhorn Valley, Ewing, Keya Paha, Lynch, Neligh-Oakdale, Niobrara, Pope John, Rock County, Saint Mary’s , Santee, Stuart, Verdigre, West Boyd, West Holt, and Wheeler Central.
The judge’s for this year’s art show are Kevin McNichols of O’Neill and Diane Cole of Emmett for the high school, and Teri Schacht of Orchard for the junior high.
