Neligh and Tilden squared off Sunday in a battle of Antelope County teams at the Quad County Peewee Tournament at Riverside Park. Tilden came out on top, winning 11-6.
Tilden sprang out of the gates with a five-run first inning, in which eight different batter's had an at-bat for Tilden, after giving up one run to Neligh in the top of the frame. Neligh made their comeback over the next few innings, however, scoring four runs in the third and one run in the top of the fourth to take a 6-5 lead going into the bottom of the fourth.
However, that lead did not last long. Tilden scored six runs in the bottom of the fourth to take an 11-6 lead before shutting out Neligh in the top of the fifth to win the game.
The loss drops Neligh to the bottom bracket for a 6 p.m. game Sunday to face the winner of the BC #1 versus Plainview game to determine who moves on to the championship against Tilden. The championship game is scheduled for an 8 p.m. first pitch.
Neligh is guaranteed no worse than third place in the tournament, while Tilden can finish no worse than second.
