Get your cameras out! Go through your old photo albums! Finally import the photos off your camera!
That’s right, it’s the Neligh Fall/Winter Photo Contest!!! We’ve combined two seasons to double the prizes and added in more categories! The Neligh Economic Development Office and the Neligh Chamber of Commerce will be accepting photos until March 31st. All prizes will be paid out in Big Bucks; First Place - $150; Second Place - $75; Third Place - $50. $25 each for the new categories – Best Fall/Winter Sport Picture; Best Snow Scene; and Cutest Snowman. Now, we know that the last two require snow – we encourage you to look at years past to see if you might have quality snow pictures. Click the link for more information and official rules.
Since Facebook has changed its polling option and holding a contest based on likes and comments is illegal, we need to change up the way we conduct this photo contest. You can still post pictures to Neligh’s Facebook Page, send them in private message, or email them to Greg. After the March 31st deadline, the photo heard will be thinned out by the Yearbook Class at N-OHS. The top five overall pictures and the top two for Best Snow Scene, Best Fall/Winter Sport Picture, and Cutest Snowman will be forwarded on to general voting. Voting will take place on the City’s Envision Neligh site. You WILL have to sign in to vote.
Pictures must be from the general Neligh area. There is no way to prove that the snow drift is at John Dow’s farm. So for that we use this simple rule: if it looks like it could be Neligh – then it’s ok! So no pictures of your climb in the Himalayas!
Pictures should have something to do with Fall or Winter. This is not a requirement, just merely a suggestion. If you have a great Spring/Summer picture and you didn’t get it in the last round. Well you can chance entering it in the contest.
Pictures that showcase Neligh’s awesome quality of life will get bonus points! When the Yearbook Class whittles down the photo field, they will be looking for pictures that would be proud of and that would make them want to raise their family in Neligh.
Lobbying for your photo is ok! Actually, it’s kind of encouraged! We want to get the word out there about how awesome Neligh is. A picture is worth 1,000 words after all, so what better way to showcase our awesome town than with pictures? Bribing the Yearbook Class with brownies is strictly frowned upon … the ED Director and the Chamber Board, however, love brownies but have no say in who makes the final cut.
