With wind gusts up to 45 mph, the National Weather Service has warned area residents to beware of downed tree limbs and power outages due to the wind.
Earlier today, the NWS issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Northeast Nebraska. The advisory is calling for a nearly 30-below zero wind chill and light snow throughout the evening.
About one inch of snow is expected to accumulate.
The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until midnight Saturday.
The primary impact for this advisory is the combination of snow and blowing snow. Strong winds and dangerously cold wind chills. Travel may be affected as well.
The area is also in a Wind Chill Advisory until 10 a.m. Sunday.
