The Calvary Bible Church in Neligh has had a new face in the congregation.
Pastor Peter Sample is serving as the Missionary Pastor at the church. Him and his wife, Maggie, moved to Neligh in the beginning of May.
Peter and his wife formally lived in Texas where he joined the Rural Home Missionary Association (RHMA), an organization that sends Missionary Pastors to places that don't have the financial means of having a full time pastor.
After joining, he heard about a church in Neligh.
He liked the idea of helping in small town America, and his wife, who grew up in the country between Ewing and Chambers, thought it would be a great idea to move to the area.
Sample says he is enjoying the community and getting to know the people.
Besides working at the church, he also helps at the food pantry on the third Tuesday of every month.
He says he wants the people of Neligh and northeast Nebraska to know the type of pastor he is.
“I serve a God of love, who loves every single person so much, that he sent his son Jesus to die on the cross for their sins, and I am here to show that love to whoever I come across," Sample said. "Not to judge them, but to say “Hey, I am here to love you”, so that possibly that person may see God through me."
