Despite the bitter cold outside, the Neligh-Oakdale gym was full of warmth and holiday cheer during the "Spirit of the Season" Christmas program Thursday evening.
Directed by Nate Metschke and Patricia Miller, with the preschool directed by Kendra Mortensen, the program brought together a mix of the elementary, junior high and high school choirs, along with the elementary and high school bands. The drum lines also performed.
As has become customary with the concerts, Metschke and Miller rotated vocal and band performances regularly to keep the production moving swiftly for those performing and the audience with 30 numbers performed in just an hour and 15 minutes.
The night ended with the finale as the entire musical cast, including the band, performed "Three English Carols." Miller then announced the elementary would cap the night by repeating their performance of "One Nation" since it has become an anthem for the school and not many had seen it live, although she said more than 14,000 had viewed the Veterans Day performance on the Antelope County News.
