The Neligh-Oakdale K-6 Flag Football League will hold their annual training camp on Sunday, August 28. The camp will begin at 4 p.m. and last approximately two hours.
The training camp will be run by the different coaches in the league and will focus on teaching players basic football fundamentals. Members of the Neligh-Oakdale football team will also be helping coach and run the camp.
Following the camp, players will be divided into teams by age group and assigned to a coach. The two age groups are kindergarten through second grade and third through sixth grade. Each team will vote on a team name, with kindergarten through second grade teams choosing college mascots and third through sixth grade choosing professional mascots.
Practices will then begin Tuesday, August 30 and will continue throughout the month of September every Tuesday and Thursday. Practices will begin at 6:30 p.m. and last approximately an hour.
Games will be played on Sundays throughout the month of September, beginning September 11. A full schedule will be given to kids during the first week of practices.
The training camp, as well as practices and games, will be held at the Neligh-Oakdale high school football field.
Students at Neligh-Oakdale were given registration forms through the school, but anyone wishing to participate can still sign up until the day of the training camp. Cost per player is $25 and all players will receive a team t-shirt.
Any student, boy or girl, in kindergarten through sixth grade is eligible to participate in the league. Players do not have to attend Neligh-Oakdale schools to participate and players from all around the area are welcome.
