Neligh-Oakdale is getting ready to celebrate Homecoming 2014.
The candidates and attendants have been selected, and activities will begin on Sunday, Oct. 5.
Queen candidates are Hallie Knutson, Kristin Rice and Taylor White. King candidates are Zach Chance Hunter McWhorter and Will Paul. Class attendants are Bailey Frey and Ashton Krebs, freshmen; Alexis Jensen and Tyson Belitz, sophomores; and Kelsey Green and Jakub Raspl. Second grade crown bearers will be Dylan Wright and Sydney Sands.
Homecoming activities will kick off on Sunday with a matball tournament in the high school gym. Eight teams will compete. Team A and Team B will play the first game at 1 p.m. Click here for the list of matball teams and game times. The winner of each game will be determined after 20 minutes of play. It will be a double elimination tournament.
The bonfire and class skits will also be held on Sunday, beginning at 7 p.m in the parking lot east of the school.
On Monday morning, the Neligh-Oakdale Booster Club will serve a homecoming breakfast for all athletes, dance team members, student managers and coaches. Booster club members will begin serving at 7 a.m. Breakfast will be egg casseroles, rolls, fruit, milk and juice.
Dress up days will be held throughout spirit week and the spirit cup will be awarded at the parade on Friday, Oct. 10. The parade, with the theme "Let the Games Begin," will begin at 1 p.m. Floats will leave the high school and travel down Main Street.
The coronation ceremony is set for Friday night following the football game. The Homecoming dance will be on Friday night from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m in the high school gym. Admission will be $1. Pizza and pop will be sold at the dance for a small fee.

Poster: Homecoming Hashtags - each class will create a poster with their own hashtag Spirit Cup: The N-O Booster Spirit Cup will be determined by a point total for the class with the most school spirit. Grades 9-12 can compete for the cup. A ranking of 1-4 with one being the best will be awarded for the class skits on Sunday, the class floats on Friday, and for spirit days dress up for the week. The class with the lowest total of all three categories will be awarded the cup for 2014 at the pep rally on main street on Friday afternoon.
