For the second straight week, the Neligh-Oakdale girls cross country team earned runner up honors, and six girls brought home medals.
Senior Kasi Grosserode led the way for the Warriors in 4th place at the Boyd County Cross Country Meet on Thursday. Grosserode crossed the finish line in 22:16. Other medalists were Madi Grosserode, 7th, 23:21; Jayda Chance, 9th, 24:08; Alexis Jensen, 15th, 25:07; Hailey Bixler, 16th, 25:09; and Rachel Higgins, 17th, 25:36. Brittany McConnell rounded out the girls team. The Neligh-Oakdale team finished 2nd behind North Central.
Cole Belitz picked up a medal for the boys team, finishing 8th with a time of 19:11. Cameron Wilkinson was the other medalist for the Warriors in 18th place (21:01). Other runners for the boys team were Christian Carothers, Logan McConnell, Gage Dawson and Jose Luna.
Two N-O junior high boys finished in the top 5 to earn medals: Griffin Claussen, 2nd, 9:21 and Talon Krebs, 5th, 9:55. Other junior high boys were Isaias Juarez, 9th; Ashton Higgins, 10th; Vance Chance, 14th; Thomas Johnson, 16th; Ethan Gregory, 21st; and junior high girl, Mercedes Heckert, 15th.
The Warriors will host the Neligh-Oakdale Cross Country Invite at the Antelope Country Club on Monday, Sept. 12 at 4:30 p.m., and will end the week with a meet in O'Neill on Friday, Sept. 16.
