Between longevity, retirement and other opportunities, a dozen Neligh-Oakdale faculty and staff were recognized Wednesday during the end of the year breakfast.
Retiring from Neligh-Oakdale are teacher Sue Meyer and para-professional Cindy Lewis, Jeanne Peterson and Merri Strong. Meyer has spent the last 32 years at Neligh-Oakdale with 38 total years in education, having also taught at Osmond and Blue Hill. She currently teaches reading mastery, character lessons and junior high physical education.
Also leaving the district are superintendent Kimberly Lingenfelter and teachers secondary language arts teacher Justin Kruse and sixth-grade teacher Kara Dusatko.
Milestone awards were given to George Loofe (3-12 Principal, 15 years at N-O, 30+overall), Susan Loofe (Special Education, 15 years at N-O, 31 overall), Lisa Hanson (Business, FBLA, Yearbook, 20 years at N-O, 21 overall), Linda Kuester (Media Specialist, 25 years at N-O, 25 overall), Sharon Kinnan (Third Grade, 40 years at N-O, 40 years-overall).
Neligh-Oakdale faculty and staff also presented gifts to Mrs. Lingenfelter, who is leaving the district as of June 30. Earlier this week, every student in grades 3-6 presented her with a can of Diet Coke, along with the sign "Given enough Diet Coke, I could run the world."
