Shreaks of excitement could be heard at the Neligh Chamber of Commerce office Friday afternoon as $1,000 in was given away in the grand prize drawing for Buisiness Bingo.
Neligh Rich Burgess joined Lauren Sheridan-Simonsen for the drawing, which was uploaded on the Antelope County News. Brenda Martinson was the first name drawn for $750 in Neligh Big Bucks while Steve Simonsen was second with $250.
Sheridan-Simonsen said participants earned a bingo spot for every $20 or more receipt they brought into the Chamber office from one of the nearly 100 Chamber members. Whether it was a retail or service receipt, she said they all counted toward bingos.
Both Martinsen and Simonsen finished the four-week game with blackouts, so they each spent at least $480 in Neligh during the bingo game.
Sheridan-Simonsen said more than $4,000 was turned in for bingo spots during the final week, showing just how much people are spending locally.
There were also four $100 winners drawn each week, so the Chamber of Commerce gave away a total of $1,400 in Big Bucks for the promotion. Sheridan-Simonsen said all of the prize money was given out in Neligh Big Bucks, ensuring that the $1,400 will also be spent locally.
