A former Neligh-Oakdale football player has made the decision on his athletic future, one that many Nebraskans dream of pursuing.
Ben Lingenfelter, now of Cherokee, Iowa, announced through Twitter Monday night that he has accepted the offer to walk on for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He will join the team for fall camp next August.
Lingenfelter, son of Burt and Kim, was recently offered a chance to walk on for the Huskers after a strong senior season on the football field, despite his Washington Braves finishing the season at just 4-5. The 6'5" big man was being recruited as both an offensive and defensive lineman.
He also held scholarship offers from Tulane, Northern Iowa and South Dakota.
He will follow in the footsteps of various family members, including most recently his brother, Luke.
