Nebraska Department of Roads brought in some heavy equipment to the Elkhorn River to help with a channel that was blocked by debris.
Nebraska Department of Roads Superintendent, Tony Tschirren said that this is a preventative measure to make sure that the excess water does not cause damage to the road or bridge.
"The only thing we can do is have the equipment ready." Tschirren said. "It's the first time this season and we expect to be out here again."
Tschirren expects the high waters near Atkinson to reach this area in the next two days.
Holt County is in a flood warning. The Elkhorn River is at 8.1 feet near Atkinson which is above flood stage.
He said the Department of Roads pays close attention to the rising water to make sure that they get debris cleaned up as soon as possible.
