It was a great turn out at Penn Park for the second annual glow volleyball tournament, put on by the Neligh-Oakdale Volleyball team.
People of all ages came out to support the local volleyball team by playing more volleyball. Head volleyball coacH Hannah Hoefer was happy to have people from the community out there.
“I think it is a great little fundraiser for our group," Hoefer said. "It keeps our girls involved with the community. “
The volleyball team ran the scoreboards and got the teams ready to go. There was burgers to feed the teams before the games started.
The proceeds from last year went to camps. This helped bring fees down for all the members of the team, Hoefer said. This year, they plan for it to help with more than just those fees.
“We also want to buy a new machine that can help us have more productive practices," Hoefer explained. "So that is kind of our goal, keep the cost of our summer camps down and to keep purchasing.”
They also want to put money towards their youth volleyball.
Hoefer appreciates all the sponsors that helped put on this event. She hopes to keep this an annual event.
“Maybe some of these teams come and support the girls when they play, and come watch them,” she said.
