An Elgin graduate has returned to Antelope County as a reporter and videographer for the Antelope County News.
Angela Richart, who graduated salutatorian of Elgin’s Class of 2013, recently earned her degree in Mass Communications from Northeast Community College, where she was editor of the collegiate publication, “The Viewpoint.”
“Angela brings a passion for video journalism that our readers will appreciate and enjoy,” said Carrie Pitzer, who owns the media company. “She is eager to add more video content to our news coverage, and we are excited to have Angela join our team."
Richart, who is the daughter of Edward and Elinor Richart of Oakdale, graduated with honors and member of Phi Theta Kappa last Saturday from NECC and recently won first-place in video journalism from the Nebraska Collegiate Media Association Golden Leaf Awards.
She began her duties Wednesday and is already covering news in the area. Richart will write and create videos for new sites in Antelope, Boone, Holt and Knox Counties.

"I’m excited to be back in my home area and doing what I love doing, which is working with video and telling people’s stories,” Richart said. “I love telling people’s stories and am looking forward to meeting everyone in the community.”
Richart will contribute to all four media websites in a variety of media platforms from video and photography to print and online stories. She’ll work closely with editor Jenny Higgins, features writer Lindy Borer, site manager Erin Whitesel and advertising director Wade Pitzer.
Carrie Pitzer said Richart is a talented addition to the team, which consists of staff with degrees in journalism, English, communications, business administration and more.
“We have an extremely talented news team that’s highly educated and is continuing to build a solid foundation of professionalism,” Pitzer said. “We’re doing some great things with local media, and I’m very proud to be working with such high-quality journalists."
