Two hundred new jobs in Norfolk could bring new families to Neligh and new jobs to Antelope County residents. An announcement made Thursday morning by Governor Dave Heineman said 200 new jobs will be added to the Norfolk area by late 2015. Heineman, Norfolk mayor Sue Fuchtman and Tejas Tubular CEO Max Tejeda announced in Lincoln that a 350,000-400,000 square foot pipe mill will be located near Norfolk - southwest of Nucor, according to US92. And that could mean jobs for Neligh residents, as well as housing opportunities for those looking to commute to the new plant in Norfolk, according to Neligh Economic Development Director Greg Ptacek. "Norfolk is in a housing crunch right now, and Neligh is in Norfolk's labor shed," Ptacek said. "The addition of a new 18 lot subdivision, County Side Acres, and the quality of life we possess in Neligh puts our community in a prime spot to potentially capture some of these families. " Neligh recently added a new subdivision to the community's east edge. Country Side Acres is an 18-lot subdivision with varying sizes. Lot prices include water, sewer, power and streets. Tejas Tubular is one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of what are known as “Oil Country Tubular Goods” (OCTG) in the petroleum industry, offering a complete range of OCTG products serving conventional, offshore and unconventional field projects. Product lines include production products such as casing, tubing, couplings and production accessories and our drilling products including drill pipe, drill collars and drill string accessories, according to its website. |
