The Neligh City Council accepted the recommendation to annex two areas in Neligh and set a public hearing for next month to hear concerns. With nearly 50 people in attendance - most of whom left following the six-minute discussion by the City Council - a decision was made that simply allows the public another opportunity to address council members. Watch video of the entire meeting Annexation has not been approved by the City Council at this time. The public will be allowed to speak again before a decision is made by the City Council. When asked if discussion should take place tonight by council members, city attorney Jim McNally said there was no point since this was not the public hearing. The only discussion necessary would be if the maps would need to be changed. Ted Hughes the made a motion to accept the recommendation by the the Neligh Planning Commission and set the public hearing for the next regular council meeting of May 12 at 6:30 p.m. The meeting will be advertised and letters will be sent to land owners in the proposed annexation areas.
