It's not every day a comedian performs at Neligh-Oakdale. And it's also not every day a local student travels to Uganda.
Omaha comedian Richard Reese will perform Monday night as the Neligh-Oakdale Honor Society celebrates Mirth Month and raises money to donate to Abby Ervin's mission trip to Uganda, to the fund they have to benefit cancer sufferers and to their scholarship fund.
Reese will present a one-hour show beginning at 7:30 p.m. Cost to attend is $5 for adults and $3 for students.
While this will be a "clean" show, the National Honor Society said parents should still use judgment before bringing small children to see any stand-up comedian.
According to his website, Reese jokes about mainstream topics such as relationships, pop culture, drugs and alcohol, family and even some politics and race. Mostly, his jokes are exaggerations on everyday occurrences.
Reese draws inspiration from comedians such as Steven Wright, Richard Pryor, Eddie Murphy and Charlie Chaplin.
