Our teacher feature of the week is Dan Roeber, history teacher at Clearwater Public Schools.
Where did you graduate from high school? What year? I graduated from Wayne High School in 2001.
What college did you attend? (years & degree) I attended Wayne State College. I started college in Fall of 2001 and graduated in Dec of 2008 with a degree in Health and Physical Education, as well as a degree in 7-12 History education. During my undergrad, I had two breaks in education. The first being to attend Basic Training for the National Guard and the second was a deployment to Iraq in 2005-2006. I also graduated with a Master's degree in 7-12 School Administration through Wayne State College in May of 2016.
What places have you taught? NE Unified District #1 has been my only teaching job, I have taught at both the Clearwater and Orchard sites. I did work as a paraeducator for Wisner Pilger Public Schools.
How many years have you taught? I am currently in my ninth year as a teacher
What subject/class do you teach? I have taught a mix of high school social studies and high school and elementary PE. This year I am currently teaching all 7-12 social studies at Clearwater Public Schools.
What is your favorite part of teaching? My favorite part of teaching is preparing the students for the future. To me teaching is not all about the textbooks and test, I want to know that our future generations are prepared to do their part to help our society improve and succeed.
What are most excited about for 2017-18 school year? The thing I would have to pick, because I have to pick just one, would be the Cyclone Wrestling Team. As the coach I feel we have a pretty good team, and can't wait to get the season going.

What are your classroom goals for the year? In the classroom I want to make history exciting!
What brought you to teach here? A job and a chance to build a wrestling team.
Can you tell me a little bit about your family? My family consist of myself, my lovely wife April (married 6 years now), my know it all son that takes after his mother, Tyan (5 and in preschool) and the princess of the family, Tenley (will be 2 this November).
What are your hobbies? I enjoy spending time with my family whenever possible. I enjoy a good book when I have time, which is usually just during the summer. I enjoy things outdoors; hunting, sports and riding four-wheelers. And as crazy as it may seem I do puzzles to relax and get my mind off of stress.
