2018 Pioneer and Heritage Farm Awards Application AKSARBEN Foundation is currently accepting applications for the annual Nebraska Pioneer and Heritage Farm Awards.
Sponsored by AKSARBEN Foundation and Nebraska Farm Bureau, this program recognizes farm families in Nebraska whose land has been owned by members of the same family for 100 and 150 years.
• A family may receive one award at a time so apply for either the 100 year or the 150 year award.
• The farm’s current minimum size required to submit an application is 40 acres, unless the original deed or homestead documents state the original homestead was less than 40 acres.
• Print the application and complete all blank lines on the first page of the form. Please use a second sheet to provide additional farm history.
• It is critical that the farm’s historical information is factual. AKSARBEN Foundation requires that the county fair board for the county in which the land is located approve each application at a fair board meeting.
For this reason, applications are submitted by the farm family to the local fair board by April 21. Upon receipt of the approved applications, AKSARBEN Foundation will check for duplications from prior years, verify eligibility rules were met, and then notify those families that will be honored. This process is to ensure that data collected from the application is correct and that awards produced will be accurate. Due to the tight timelines for verification and production of the awards/gatepost markers, applications received after the deadline date will be held for distribution in the following year. The farm awards are presented to the family or their designee at their local county fair. To nominate an Antelope County family, please send application forms to Antelope County, PO Box 127, Neligh NE 68756 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
